Test proctoring at the John Spellman Library Print Page

Proctoring guidelines

  • We will proctor outside of the Testing Center hours. That should be the first place a student contacts. Call 360-538-4099

  • If a GHC student needs proctoring, they should contact the reference desk, not an individual librarian. 360-538-4054 or

  • They need to let us know in advance, not just show up and expect to take a test.

  • Non-GHC students need to go through the testing center, regardless of time constraints.

  • Any proctoring instructions should be sent to the reference desk,

  • A test must be started early enough to allow for the allotted testing time. Even if the student doesn’t think they will need the full time, it must be provided. (For example, if the time allotted for a test is 2 hours, but the student is sure they will be done sooner, they must still start the exam at least 2 hours before closing time.)

  • The testing center web site has a form for the instructor to provide guidelines, such as if the textbook is allowed etc. This needs to be provided to the library by the instructor in advance, unless we already have the requirements on file.

  • When a student comes in, they need to bring current photo ID. This does not have to be a SID card.

  • The librarian on duty at the reference desk will proctor the exam.
